Clean Water Indiana

The Owen County Soil and Water Conservation District received grant funding from the Indiana State Soil Conservation Board in order to conduct several Clean Water Indiana programs. This is the latest in a series of conservation education programs and cost-share opportunities that have been made possible through this funding.

Two special cost-share opportunities are being offered by Owen County SWCD:

Emergency Conservation Assistance Program

Many farmers continue to contend with the damage done to fields by the floods of 2008. Cost-share for land rehabilitation is offered at a 50% rate up to $1,000 per participant. The project must be completed before the end of August 2009. Work already done may be eligible.

Sediment and Nutrient Reduction Program

We are offering assistance for conservation projects such as cover crops, no-till, soil testing, buffers and livestock management. Work must be done between January 1 and December 1, 2009. Assistance will be provided at $20 per acre for cover crops and 50% cost-share for other practices up to $1,000 per participant.

Contact the SWCD office as soon as possible

to see if we can help with your project.

Both programs are made possible by Clean Water Indiana grants provided by the Indiana State Department of Agriculture and the Indiana Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts.
